Sunscreen Earth

The Arctic Restoration Project

A once-in-a-generation mission. Your place in it.

Imagine restoring the frozen Arctic habitats that polar bears, seals, walruses, and other extraordinary animals depend on. Imagine having your own registered place in that mission, and following its progress as it unfolds.

That's the vision behind Sunscreen Earth.

What is Sunscreen Earth?

Sunscreen Earth is a developing participation platform designed to fund the restoration of Arctic sea ice, the habitat Arctic wildlife depends on.

It aims to raise the resources needed for further testing, environmental evaluation, engineering, and potential deployment.

Our objective is simple

Restore Arctic ice. Protect Arctic wildlife.

Your Own Place in the Arctic

We're designing an interactive Arctic map divided into regions, quadrants, sectors, and individual plots.

Participants will be able to explore the map, choose a sector, and purchase a registered plot, becoming part of the Arctic Restoration Project.

Each plot represents participation in the mission, not ownership of Arctic territory.

More Than a Plot

We're developing a range of experiences for registered participants:

  • SYS-01Personalized mission registration and certificate
  • SYS-02Mission dashboard with milestones and project updates
  • SYS-03Satellite imagery and Arctic exploration features
  • SYS-04Wildlife explorer: meet the animals in your region
  • SYS-05Commemorative recognition and collectibles
  • SYS-06Potential opportunities to join Arctic wildlife expeditions

Final features and participation packages will be announced as the platform develops.

We're Not Starting From Zero

For more than fifteen years, researchers have explored ways to protect ice by restoring its natural reflectivity, including laboratory studies, climate modeling, and field trials.

That work has shown the idea can be tested in the real world, and identified the hard questions that remain: effectiveness at scale, environmental safety, and cost.

What has been missing is the scale of resources needed to answer those questions. Sunscreen Earth is designed to provide them.

Think Apollo. Think Arctic.

What if you could have been part of Apollo?

What if ordinary people could have had a registered place in the mission that put humanity on the Moon, followed the engineering, watched the milestones, and told their families:

“I was part of that.”

Arctic restoration presents different challenges, but it deserves the same ambition.

We don't need every engineering problem solved before we commit to solving it.

The Adventure Is Just Beginning

SunscreenEarth.com is being built as the interactive platform where participants will explore the Arctic, select their plot, register their participation, and follow the mission.

And restoring Arctic ice also benefits the planet: more reflective ice means less heat absorbed by the ocean.
